On 30th October, Mars goes Retro in sky-sector Gemini, and on and around 31 October it’s the various worldwide festivals for ‘All Cups Day’, All Saints Day, All Souls Day, Halloween!
Hooky-Spooky-Kooky – Time for ‘bad hair’ and ‘blooper pics’
October all round seems to be a spooky month! It’s one of the four times each year when confectionary and candy become fun for adults as well as children (X-mas, Easter, X-mas in July, and Halloween). And globally since ancient times, festivals have been held throughout October to contain, celebrate, respect and recognise the end of September (the Equinox) which is a huge fluctuation energy time on our planet which flows right through October.
Since Ancient Times – Globally Honour the Displaced, Fiestas – End-Oct to Start-Nov
Generally the week around Halloween covers all the days mentioned above, and in Australia the famous Melbourne Cup Day for ‘the big race’ happens every year at the start of Nov. Paris has The White Night (an October huge cultural event all-nighter of open musuems etc) which to me, makes sense of Halloween, and All Souls-Spirit-Cups days and nights worldwide. Most major world cities have all-night public transport systems especially on fiesta days to honour the sense of ‘learn to be safe with the night’. At Halloween, in an empathic sense, it can help to ‘be with the dark night of the soul’.
Respecting Spirit and Soul – the Good, Ugly, Broken and Beautiful
This time of year is super-important for the parts of self-soul-spirit plus forebears-ancestors-lost-souls who feel displaced or marginalised, kicked out of life’s streams or injured, maimed, lost or forgotten, their story never told. At this time, they have the right to arrive and share their story, receive food, flavours, drinks, sustenance and have a cup and plate put out for them. Priests, monks and wise ones of all religions and spiritualities are taught to sit with the ancestor plate and cup (chalice or goblet) to hear and honour the story. And the ordinary ‘lay person’ does this through honouring this date, few days, week of the year.
Directs and Retros – What a Month!
On 2 October Mercury went Direct at 24 degs Virgo, on 9 October Pluto went Direct at 26 degs Capricorn, on 23 October Saturn went Direct at 18 degs Aquarius, yet Neptune and Chiron are still Retro til Dec and Uranus until January. Mars now joins them Retro in Gemini.
Multi-Spiritual, Multi-Cultural, Multi-Religious – What Was Your Early Upbringing?
I was brought up Christian and for reasons I’m still trying to work out, stricter Bible-to-the-T Christian traditions seem to be against Halloween, but ironically respect All Souls Day and All Saints Day. Yet whether you are Christian, Moslem, Buddhist, Hindi or ‘Original Great Nature Spirit’ in your orientation, or other, it’s a time to open minds and hearts to some New Age/New Normal ways of thinking about Seasons and Cycles, and Soul and Spirit.
The Spooky Scorpio October 25th Partial Solar Eclipse!
The New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse in Scorpio on 25 October seemed to amp up the ‘spook’ factor of this time of year. If you’re feeling spun about on life’s carousel, consider this a ‘wheel of fortune’ time of year, in general, every year since ancient times. September Equinox happens close to end-Oct, a mega-crossroads times for Earth (March, June and Dec sporting the others three-Xs of EX-Equinoxes and solstices).
How Will You Celebrate, Respect, Contain and/or Open Heart/Mind to this Week?
In Germany and surrounds they’ve long celebrated Oktoberfest. Nepal has Dashain, an annual 2-week festival holiday season (with importance similar to our Dec X-mas in Oct/Nov), India has the Hindu festival Diwali (it’s festival of lights and fireworks in Oct/Nov), China has The Double Ninth Festival. Mexico and South America have the Day-of-the-Dead festivals. And the USA also has Thanksgiving Day in November. The Aboriginal People of Australia celebrate 26 October, the day when Uluru (which was named in Australia Ayers Rock for many years) was returned to the original owners and reclaimed as Uluru, in 1985. And in Australia it’s been a tradition to celebrate Cup Day too, similar to the Cup of Thanksgiving concept of the USA Thanksgiving Day.
Happy Halloween!
Multi-Thinking, Multi-Aware, Multi-Chakra’d, 1.5-Metred Multi-Aura’d New Humans
Now that the New Normal is being created on this Multi-cultural, Multi-spiritual, Multi-religious, Multi-Aura’d globe, Halloween has come to mean something to me, and I’ve been observing it this past few years. Since age 19, I have been a ‘multi’-thinker about much, after a strict religious upbringing, and do not any longer identify as only Christian, especially now into my mid-50s, after 30+ years of different thinking, but it is a percentage of who I am.
