March 2016 Forecasts
March’s Many Keys, Doorways, Openings and Closings
Feeling edgy, nervous, excited? The first of this year’s two eclipse seasons is here. Essentially, March is eclipse month. It’s also the month when fiery Mars moves into passionate Sagittarius bringing extra drive and vision. Yet we do need to work within the confines of Jupiter square Saturn (described toward the end), which puts instant gratification on the back burner for the bigger goal of sustainable enduring success.
First up, Mars is getting ready to leave Scorpio and jump into Sagittarius, which it will do on the 6th. Mars in Scorpio is the equivalent of a deep sea diver in the ocean depths. We’ve each been immersed in these depths since 4 January when Mars entered Scorpio. After the 6th, it may take a few days to acclimatise to Mars in Sagittarius. We’ll want to rush into the fun and new pastures of Sagittarius, but just as deep sea divers need to rise to the surface safely so they don’t get the bends, we’ll need to take time to be sure everything is safe and stable. Jupiter square Saturn helps with this.
Since 4 January with Mars in Scorpio, there’s been added intensity or passion in at least one area of life, whether this has been through love vulnerabilities, health, housing, work, themes of power or loss, or your own ‘angels and demons’. After 6 March, it’s easier to breathe and start to see where everything is heading. Mars in Sagittarius shines the brightness of rainbows after rain.
The Water Element & the Pisces New Moon Eclipse
In February, the astrology had a predominance of the water element and this continues in March with both Mercury (on the 5th) and Venus (on the 12th) entering Pisces and joining the Sun, Neptune, Chiron and the South Node already in Pisces. We’re certainly being dowsed in emotional, spiritual and intuitive mists and waterfalls. There’s been a lot of heart and soul openings, lots of laughter, tears, pain, confusion, euphoria, disappointment, inspiration and healing. You might’ve noticed that small kindnesses can have very big effects at this time, but similarly small negativities can really rock the boat.
All of this keeps up throughout March, but with a difference. The two eclipses act like jump starters to sluggish batteries and open our eyes to what needs to be seen. Discomfort can increase under eclipses while something stuck is released, like getting the lid off a jar to get to the good contents inside. But it’s also possible for them to be like champagne bottles popping open.
The first eclipse is on 9 March in Pisces at the New Moon Supermoon, our first Supermoon for the year while the Moon is dark at the New Moon. This Total Solar Eclipse Supermoon has the potential to break us out of wishful thinking. If something practical has to be done but we’re living on hopes, prayers and wishes, this eclipse helps shed light.
Asteroids & the Nodes – Hidden Right in View
At the time of this 9 March eclipse there’s an interesting asteroid making news. Known as Asteroid 2013 TX68, it’s hidden in the sun’s glare in our daytime skies. This has made it hard for NASA to determine its exact speed, distance or pass-by date, but latest estimates are 8 March. It poses no threat to earth but has captured astronomers’ attention because it’s been hard to pin down. This resonates with the elusive feeling of the astrology of late.
For example, you want the new job, property, car, holiday, relationship, bank loan, health success etc, but it might feel as if there’s a piece missing to the puzzle. March offers new angles; new ways of gathering information to make decisions. We’re sometimes too subjective and caught up in our own sun’s glare of usual daily ways of perceiving to see how things really are. It might help to do something like change the newspaper you read, try a different health modality, reconsider your social media preferences or play different music.
Many have been feeling profound changes over January and February with Jupiter conjunct the North Node (destiny axis) and Mars deep down in the mysterious soul lands of Scorpio. The March eclipses continue this change process of reorienting us, even if we cannot put a finger on what precisely has changed.
The Equinox and Full Moon Eclipse in Virgo
From the 20th to the 25th, there’s a lot of astrological activity and more opportunities to see more clearly what’s going on. First the Sun moves into Aries on the 20th, which is the moment of the Aries Equinox. The four quarter days of the Solstices and Equinoxes each year offer turning point openings. Could this month get any bigger with its soul portals and doorways! We have Eclipses, a Supermoon, the Equinox, and the Axis of Destiny (Nodes) (with Chiron still conjunct the South Node, and Jupiter loosely conjunct the North Node) stimulating great growth.
On the 22nd Mercury moves into Aries and on the 23rd there’s a Full Moon Eclipse (partial lunar) in Libra. Here we’re dealing with themes of self (Aries) versus others (Libra) and getting the boundaries right. There’s some big decisions to make about relationships. You might’ve been wondering what on earth is going on with certain people in your life and this Full Moon helps bring clarity. As you make arrangements with family, friends, colleagues, networks and partners, pay close attention to the dynamics that play out for extra insight.
This period of time also includes the exact date of the Jupiter square Saturn alignment, the 23rd, the same day as the Full Moon Eclipse. This big alignment is active all month and into April and May as well. Jupiter is already Retrograde and on the 25th Saturn goes Retro too, which means both are squaring each other while predominately Retro.
Jupiter square Saturn – Stop, Start, Wait, Go, Fast, Slow
What can we make of all this? Essentially there’s a feeling of needing to deeply reflect on every move forward. Lots of feelings of ‘yes’!, ‘go for it’ are likely to be active, especially with Mars also in Sagittarius, but Saturn cautions to tread carefully. We are definitely meant to be moving forward with our excitements and visions, but there’s a very big need to check and cross-check details, including being sure people really are communicating what we think they are.
Jupiter is still loosely with the North Node in Virgo and helping us launch our new directions, practically and one step at a time. We’re being given a very big helpful opportunity to check our footing before we take each step so we don’t get trapped in quicksand. Spontaneous elated feelings help us know our directions, but it’s a case of finding the right ‘vehicles’ for them. If something is taking time to materialise, grab a moment to reflect and contemplate. There will be information trying to come to your awareness to protect and look after you.
Mars in Sagittarius offers a big boost, helping keep our spirits high and our focus positive so that even when some hard yakka appears, we take it in our stride and even flourish with each new challenge. All of the alignments of late show we are being cheered on toward our individual successes, even if exhaustion momentarily sets in as we keep plugging away. It’s all about the rewards of enduring success and not blowing it by rushing or settling for illusory substitutes.
