When the Big Archetypal Planets Change Zodiac Sign

Until now, it’s been one new zodiac sign entry after another for key archetypal big planets and points, with 2025 having five big astrological shifts.

Is there a month of the year that stands out to you with significant happenings? These are the months and the planets: the Nodes, January; Neptune, March; Saturn, May; Jupiter, June; Uranus, July. From August to the end of the year, there are no more big key planet or point into new zodiac signs shifts.

So how have the changes involving the Nodes, Neptune, Saturn, Jupiter and Uranus in the first half of the year been energetically influential?

Has anything in your year from January felt quite different in terms of your sense of pathway and destiny? If so, this might be the effect of the Nodes, regarded as ‘the fates’, destiny or the magnetic subconscious compasses toward or away from things. On 12 January North Node shifted out of Aries and South Node out of Libra after 18 months in those signs, by moving into Pisces (North Node) and Virgo (South Node) respectively. Their symbol looks like horseshoes or hooks and eyes. Do you feel hooked since January, or unhooked, in lucky or unlucky ways?

What about Neptune, the second shift? Think of different coloured glasses, as Neptune is often associated with rose-coloured glasses. This planetary archetype on 30 March took off its ‘Pisces glasses’ of 14 years and put on ‘Aries glasses’. Experiences of intuition, creativity, the inner self and ‘the flow’ have changed from a 14-year Piscean way to now an Aries way, which is far more direct, reactive and initiating. Neptune doesn’t leave Aries until the year 2038, and affects matters to do with energy levels, the flow, concentration, spirit and spirituality, dreams, sleep, romance, art, compassion, hope and faith, and creative stream.

The third shift was Saturn into Aries on 25 May 25 after 2 years 2 months in Pisces. Saturn will spend until 13 April 2028 in Aries. Saturn and Neptune stay more or less conjunct too for about 10 months (to March 2026). Saturn is to do with responsibilities, maturity, achievements, goals, being careful, commitment, limits and boundaries. Aries is about the personal self and asserting free will, yet now has the reality-checking of Saturn to contend with, as well as the intuitive flow of Neptune.

The fourth shift has been Jupiter into Cancer, which happened on 10 June. After 12 months in Gemini, Jupiter now stays in Cancer until end June 2026. The opportunities archetype, Jupiter, has moved into a water element, specifically Cancer, bringing themes of family, heart and soul, living arrangements, being safe, nourishment, memory, comforts and habits. It’s about being cautious (Cancer) while moving toward opportunities (Jupiter).

The fifth shift, as of 7 July 25, has been Uranus in Gemini. After spending 7 years in centred and grounded earth element, Taurus, Uranus now gets into the mind energies of air. With Uranus, ruler of air sign Aquarius, in air element Gemini until 2032, changeability, switching, duplicates and twin things are themes. What was once the future is now here, with influences including Artificial Intelligence, technology, information streaming, mindfulness, communication, sudden happenings, upgrades/ downgrades and evolution/ devolution.

Which months above or which themes match significant changes or experiences that you’ve had? While the sign change influences from the first half of the year continue to sort themselves out, the retrogrades and other alignments continue on and off as they do every year. For example, August features Venus and Jupiter conjunct, and Mercury coming out of Retrograde.

Yet when the big key planets and points go Retrograde they often slip back into their previous zodiac signs for a while, and this happens in times when they have only for a short while been in their new zodiac signs. And so Saturn in September slips back into Pisces until February 2026, Uranus in November slips back into Taurus until late April 2026 and Neptune in October slips back into Pisces until late January 2026.
