October 2016 Monthly Forecast
October has a big astrological climax in the middle of the month with a Full Moon Supermoon in Aries conjunct Uranus, the planet that helps bring the changes we need – some that we know we need and others that we may not necessarily know we need! The first half of the month seems to build toward this climax with many planetary alignments in quick succession.
Champagne or a Glass of Bitters
Once we’ve finished the preparatory first two weeks of October, the Aries Full Moon Supermoon (on the 16th) has the potential to manifest something you’ve been working towards for a long time, so much so, you’re almost stunned by the success; but equally you might be thrown by something not turning out how you expected. Agreements need some reshuffling – people shake hands on contracts, or walk away, or come up with inventive solutions to unique circumstances.
Under the Aries Full Moon mid-month the chance for liberation is strong. This might come through an obvious ‘I feel like I’m out of jail’ experience with joy and celebration. Or an area of your life that’s been out of sorts might simply wind-up. If this wobbles you, perhaps it’s really your lucky break as cage doors are being opened and what initially feels unpleasant might later turn out to be a blessing in disguise.
Powerful Relationship Dynamics – Libra and Scorpio
The first half of the month has a Libra/Scorpio juggle going on, with Mercury, Sun and Jupiter in Libra, while Venus is in Scorpio. This brings great soul-searching in relationships. The more you reflect on your deeper intentions and motivations in relationships the better this month. There’s some tricky hidden agendas going on, mostly because people aren’t in touch with their true self-value and have their goals a bit off centre. Your own self-value might be challenged, yet this is a great opportunity to commit further to the truth of yourself and your own values and act from personal inner self-respect, not the pressures and expectations of others.
Mars is in Capricorn all month strongly affected by the energy of Pluto. You might find a room within yourself that the door has been closed on for too long. What will happen if you open the curtains, let the light in and take the dust-covered sheets off? What treasures do you find beneath those sheets? If you could decorate this room with anything what would you put in it?
Mars in Capricorn and Venus in Sagittarius
While Mars is in Capricorn, it makes some strong alignments: on 6 October Mars squares Jupiter, on 19 October Mars is exactly conjunct Pluto and on 29 October Mars squares Uranus. These are times to be honest with yourself about passions that might show up at first as anger, frustration or even ‘I don’t care’ frozen coldness. It takes courage and maturity to find a safe way to express these feelings (or non-feelings – a possible sign something is frozen). Your hidden desires might seem to come out all wrong at first. Think of how awkward a foal is when born. Soon it’s on all four legs as a powerful horse but needs to progress through the early days of its arrival.
The second half of the month highlights Venus in Sagittarius. She moves into Sagittarius on the 18th, but this is also the zodiac sign Saturn’s in at the moment (i.e. Sagittarius) so even though Venus wants to pursue her pleasures she’s got to get her boundaries right. It’s a wonderful month for star-viewing with Venus, unmistakable as bright Evening Star. From the 22nd we see her joining Saturn – the date of their exact conjunction is the 30th.
Hidden Relationship Themes – Saturn and Scorpio
Venus in Sagittarius brings optimism and inspiration. She wants to go with the flow of her feelings and do something like throw a party. She’s ready for good times, likes to live spontaneously and express her generosity. But this month because Venus is with Saturn it’s important to stay practical and negotiate right boundaries, especially in relationships. Inviting everyone to your party without discernment might put a spanner in the works. There are certain things Saturn needs us to say ‘no’ to in our relationships this month. If Venus in Sagittarius takes a moment to pause, discern and check she’s showing respect to herself and others, she could have great relationship success this month.
The month ends with a New Moon in Scorpio on the same day as Halloween. All month there are significant planets in Scorpio, and Halloween itself has the ‘death-rebirth-mystery-magic-soul-trick-treat’ feel of Scorpio to it as well. Emotions could run hot at this time. People might withdraw and brood or might become surprisingly honest and open about their deeper feelings. Something very tender and beautiful has the potential to unfold now, but equally something painful and wounding. Scorpio always has its two sides, but if we let go of ‘control games’ and instead build trust and intimacy with true vulnerability and the right level of honesty, we could experience the deeper love rewards that only Scorpio can bring.
If you haven’t seen Venus yet in all her bright beauty, look west shortly after dark for some soul inspiration.
