June 2017 Monthly Forecast
Major Change in the Year’s Energy
On 6 June when Venus moves into Taurus, a major change in the year’s energy happens. Normally it wouldn’t be such a big deal to a whole year if one of the inner planets (Mercury, Venus or Mars) changes zodiac sign, but in this case Venus has spent almost all of 2017 in the one zodiac sign. This is unusual. Usually she changes sign about every month.
So what’s been happening? Basically on 4 February, Venus went into Aries, and that’s the zodiac sign she’s been in ever since (plus a bit of Pisces in April, which she dipped in and out of). Aries is a Fire zodiac sign and you might recall that 2017 is the Year of the Fire Rooster. Fire can be inspirational, beautiful to gaze at, light a room warmly, light a heart with happiness or joy, but there’s also dangers to fire.
Venus into Taurus – From Fire to Earth
Many warnings are associated with fire… ‘play with fire and you will get burnt’, ‘fire and gunpowder do not sleep together’, ‘fire is never a gentle master’, ‘where there is smoke there is fire’, ‘the fire you kindle for your enemy often burns yourself more than them’. From 4 February until 6 June, with Venus in Aries we went through the ups and downs of fire; the positives and the negatives. Now that Venus is in Taurus, we can sort out any negatives and capitalise on the positives.
Taurus, being Earth, helps hold, contain, ground and stabilise Fire. We all get random flashes of fire all the time, even if we don’t notice them. Fire is the electricity that makes everything move in our bodies, but electricity needs to be earthed to be safe. As an example, impulsiveness is a fire expression. Being impulsive can be positive or negative depending on intention, awareness, mood and skill level. Roaring a car impulsively at 140km is better done after you’ve trained on a racing circuit. Dancing spontaneously for hours on stilettos is preferable after practising on stilettos (if you ever want to walk again)!
Of course earth can put out fire, so we need to be careful not to lose the good things about fire, but from now until early July while Venus is in Taurus we have a chance to remedy any uses of fire that have been going the wrong way.
Is Your Sunrise Becoming a Bright Midday?
There are three times each day when our skies light up with Fire based on the four cardinal points – sunrise, midday and sunset. The fourth point is when the sun is blotted from our vision, at the nadir, beneath the earth. There are three fire signs, Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. The next zodiac sign after each of them is always earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn).
If fire doesn’t earth itself, it might fall into the ‘black hole’ of the nadir, its blindspot, the fourth place where the sun is not visible at night while lighting the sky on the other side of the globe. This is a metaphor of how we get ‘three chances’ (think of the three wishes granted by a genie in a bottle) to earth (make real) our fire (visions and dreams) in our individual lives – each of us has all three fire signs on the outside of our astrology wheel – but if we fail to earth our fire, it lights up for someone else on the other side of the globe so to speak.
Venus Rules Taurus – Relationships Prosper
Venus is a feminine planet. Most of all she represents our relationships and interconnections with others. While she was in Aries, you might’ve been content to be a hermit and spend time away from others. The singularity of Aries, its masculine quality of ‘self’, of ‘to thine own self be true’, might have led you or others to withdraw and seek the wisdom and solace of solitude.
Or you might have banded with others based on passion, excitement, vision, or participating in shared battles or shared creative projects. When Venus goes into Taurus, there’s a shift in relationship energy. Now there’s the feeling of meeting new people slowly, taking into account step-by-step practical compatibilities to bring Taurus-type rewards… loyalty, reliability, commitment and contentment. Venus rules Taurus, so she is comfortable and strong in this zodiac sign, showing us that approaching relationships in Taurus ways can bring us ultimate relationship success.
Indulge but also Get Organised
When Venus goes into Taurus, we are encouraged to catch up on practical life details that got overlooked while out and about flying with fire; for example, taking time to cook a proper meal, sort out paperwork, curl up and watch a movie, etc – all the self-love routines that are difficult or impossible to tend to while in intensive fire mode, bringing the rewards of health, wellbeing, material assets, body enjoyment, beauty, self-esteem, relaxation and rejuvenation.
It’s an important month to get on track with the routine tasks that make life work. Fire doesn’t necessarily make our life work. In a flash, we might turn the flame up too high and many years of effort are suddenly up in smoke. The earth element reminds us we will have to start again from scratch if we do that because earth cannot be hurried or forced. Taurus also relates to Planet Earth. We won’t be getting another Mother Earth again in a hurry if we wreck this one!
Venus Sextile Mars all month
Interestingly, all of June Venus forms an alliance with Mars. This is almost like her time in Aries, but this does not mean she still has the Aries energy at her disposal. She is definitely earthed in Taurus. Even so, Venus this year just cannot get enough of fire. In June she’s in a sextile alignment with Mars, the fire planet. This geometric position between Venus and Mars (from 6/6 to 21/6, exact on 10/6) shows the masculine and the feminine coming up with good plans to move forward with shared goals and desires. Sextiles even sound like they could be very good for love arrangements!
Yet the thing about sextiles is they require effort. Let’s say you’re dating and there’s a great vibe between you and someone else, eventually one or the other of you, or both simultaneously, are going to need to kiss if you want things to go further. This is how sextiles work. Nothing will happen, no matter how good the energy, if you don’t action it somehow.
This alignment goes for anything, not only romance – friendships, work partnerships, joining groups, finding the right supports for your situation etc. It’s a great alignment, very helpful and positive, but remember though that with a sextile nothing plonks on our dinner plates – we must put effort into making connections.
June Solstice – Cosmic Divining Rod
The Sun moves into Cancer on the 21st, signalling the June Solstice. Each year we have two solstices, one in June and the other in December. For a number of years now – from about 1998 to about 2018 – the Galactic Equator has been in the final stages of its rare alignment with the solstice points (once every 26,000 years), affecting the solstice days in June and December each year. This is an image of how human choices sit like votes that are registered on the Galactic Equator at the solstices each year, until 2018, while humanity goes through a huge evolutionary crossroads.
Imagine for a moment that the Galactic Equator is a divining rod that the cosmos itself pokes into our corner of the galaxy to test for our choices each solstice. What behaviours and actions are we doing that show life our choices? What are we creating? Most spiritual teachings say ‘what you put out comes back to you’, ‘what you ask for, you shall receive’, ‘the vibration you generate and resonate with brings more of that to you through the law of attraction’.
Uranus into Taurus on the way – Big Change
Interestingly, one major planet makes a change in 2018 (the year the Galactic Equator-Solstice alignment phases out) and that planet is Uranus, doing exactly what Venus does this month – moving out of Aries into Taurus. Uranus rules technology (e.g. Wi-Fi, Smart technology, IT, social media, the internet, online transactions). It went into Aries in May 2010. In May 2018 only one year away, Uranus will move into Taurus helping us earth this new technology.
On a personal level, Uranus in Aries over the past seven years (eight by the time it shifts into Taurus) has helped each of us strengthen the courage to show our individuality and be ourselves. We are now in the final year of this phase, so make the most of getting to the heart of who you are and where you would like to go (Aries), so that you’re ready for materialising (Taurus) your dreams more practically when Uranus goes into Taurus. This month of Venus in Taurus might bring a personal intuitive feel about this bigger shift.
Wishing you Taurus’s abundance this month – enjoying all that’s natural, sustainable and pleasurable – and keep in mind the extra energies of the last New Moon Supermoon of three in a row happening on the 24th. Michelle
