The Month of May, Big Astrology!
The May Day first week of May has passed, and also Mothers’ Day, which began the second week of May. Both take turns waxing and waning, but I’ve noticed that May Day seems to last all month. Here’s to all Mothers who birthed children, as well as Mother nature, Mother earth, and other Mother types.
Solar Eclipse happened on 1 May, next on 16 May, a Lunar Eclipse
This recent May Day (1/5/22) there was a Solar Eclipse at the New Moon in Taurus, and on 16 May there’ll be a Lunar Eclipse at the Full Moon in Scorpio. Much is happening in cycles and turnings of life’s circuits this month. The Scorpio Lunar Eclipse on 16th punctuates a different second half of the month.
The Nodes, Rahu & Ketu, Hook and Eye, Dragon’s Head and Tail, Horseshoe & Bucket
It pays to always know where your Nodes are and what’s going on with them, as these points in your personal astrology, and in the world’s astrology too, move backwards; a different direction, rhythm and tempo from the way the rest of life’s planetary archetypes move.
Eclipses always involve the Nodes, and from now (May 2022 Eclipse season) until August, the Nodes square Saturn and trine/sextile Neptune.
Destiny Doors Opening and Closing between Now and each New Moment til Aug
These hook and eye shapes in your astrology open and close doorways to destiny and fate circulation. Different fates, powers-that-be, gods/goddesses, forces of good, evil and the shades in between that work with the ‘shadow’ of, the ‘backwards’ of, the ‘review’ of, the ‘mirror’ of, the ‘reflection’ of things, take turns joining forces to assess through the Nodes during this period. Night is as powerful as day. The unseen as powerful as the seen. The below as powerful as the above.
Time to Hustle May Now Checkpoints
And so in the second half of May, we feel the glow or the shiver of what we need to know. The glow or shiver checkpoints continue until August and involve working with the sternness of Saturn and the dreamy hopeful flow of Neptune for our pathways. Notice between May and August moods of strict sternness (Saturn) and moods of enticing hope or blindspots (Neptune) and see how you can work with these in each moment of signs, aha’s, surprises, synchronicities, oh’s! or d’oh’s in yourself and others, as one part of self or other might not notice the other part.
May Day Month – Reaching out and Keeping Awareness
May Day Month helps catch parts of yourself and others that are living “in the wars”. Each person is made of self, soul and spirit. Sometimes, even if on the physical front much seems fine, on other fronts it might be like war.
Just prior to ANZAC day, at 11.59pm on Friday 22 April, new rules came in for Melburnians regarding Corona-Covid. There are of course still restrictions, and every individual circumstance has rules that either increase or decrease restrictions.
Positive April Symbology – Will It flow thru May thru to August or Drip out Before Then?
If thinking symbolically, the lifting of more restrictions felt positive before ANZAC day (25 April each year), a day of respect towards those in war, past, present and future who continue to fight to protect others, or protect our world as armed peacekeepers.
Great thanks to all who fought and continue to fight. And now, in our world, many have quite severe serious diseases, disabilities and illnesses since the onset of the digital age, in earnest since 2010 (2008 astrologically with Pluto into Capricorn, finally out of that sign in 2023). Since Corona-Covid’s virulent outbreak in late 2019, there have been 6.2 million worldwide deaths from the Corona-Covid pandemic that are known and recorded.
Jupiter into Aries on 11 May, a 12 month chance, once every 12 years
The incredible planet Jupiter (its drive and impetus being ‘bring Joy, Optimism and Benevolence, and at worst Expansion, Exacerbation and Enlarging of situations’) spends about 12 months in a zodiac sign, usually with a bit of a dip back into the previous sign over that 12 months. Here’s Jupiter’s upcoming movements:
Jupiter … 11 May 2022 to 28 October 2022 Aries
Jupiter… 28 October 2022 to 21 December 2022 Pisces
Jupiter…. December Solstice 2022 back into Aries until 17 May 2023
So it’s happened!! Jupiter on 11 May went into Aries!
What might this bring and how might you harness this energy? The ‘courageous fighter’ and ‘the courageous pioneer of life-saving ideas, innovation and action’ are Aries key tags. There’s a sense that thank goodness Jupiter will be taking up the charge, and helping in Aries.
Chiron Is Already in Aries and Along Comes Jupiter
The Chiron powers-that-be, often caught in the middle of the sandwich like demi-gods, could I’m guessing do with some help from Jupiter.
Uranus, from 2010, had a 7-to-8-year span (which comes around for Uranus once every 84-years) in Aries to burst in ‘the what’s new’ in digital-satellite-tech-A.I. for our world. Some found this too fast, others too outrageous, others way too late in the coming, and Chiron has since 2018 been doing what it can to hold the fort in Aries.
Chiron Will Be in Aries until April 2027
Chiron, the quick back story… on 17 April 2018 moved into Aries and will basically stay mainly in Aries until April 2027 Chiron took up the Aries gauntlet in April 2018 around the time Uranus, in March 2019, left Aries.
Now that Jupiter is in Aries as of a few days ago, more benevolent help is at hand from life streams that will do their best to rally together to help the disabled, the disfigured, the deep grieving, the harmed, and the traumatised (Chiron’s auspices), and everything in between.
The New Normal and Bell-Curves of Normality
Chiron is a powerful healing archetype that helps those both inside and outside of the ‘bellcurve of normality’ while the ‘new bellcurve of normality’ is being created.
Sometimes I do rather wonder whether ‘war of the worlds’ did really happen, like in many of the sci-fi books and movies that have been depicting such for quite some many years, and whether this is what is requiring such rapid change to what’s normal.
If You’re an In-Between Type, Grab Jupiter’s Help
The Archetype of Chironic Types is named after people who are ‘wounded, disabled, in-between, other gendered and etc’, and this archetype is represented by the cosmic body, Chiron.

Christ! and Turns of Eons, Chiron! and Turns of Eons
Ancient texts recount how Christ took up the cross, and also how Chiron before Christ, took up the cross, albeit a different type, but still a cross, splayed out on the ground. Both Christ and Chiron freed significant great ‘sons of gods’. Christ freed Jesus, and Chiron freed Prometheus, and both, in doing so, freed many other souls and lives who had been long suffering.
These long-past living beings both have records and evidence of their great contributions and sacrifices as ‘great ones’ who came to humanity’s rescue. Christ in the past 2000+ plus years, and Chiron prior to that. Now, since the turn of the millennium in 2000 AD, we seem to be living in equally mythically large times.
Will Jupiter in Aries Exacerbate or Bring Freedom in These Mythic Times?
The most strained side of Jupiter could well be more war, and oddly a Chinese warship recently (13th May) only two days after Jupiter went into Aries (11th) got hackles up by coming super close to Broome, west-coast of Australia with surveillance spy kit onboard. So will the Jupiter-effect enlarge war in the world, given the terrible situation in Ukraine, or rally fighting against war and finally winning the battle for a fair go and freedom?
Jupiter has a deep driven impulse toward being benevolent, generous, motivating, responsive and helpful, so all in all here’s to the positivity and optimism that can come from Jupiter in Aries.
Will We Have to Wait until 2025 for the New Normal?
From the astrological point of view, each of us is ‘sponsored’ by one of the 12 ‘gods/ goddesses, powers-that-be’ that we fall under with our Sun/Star sign. Any many, whether or not they believe in such, find that the forces that rule their Sun/Star signs are there in their lives. For myself as an Aquarian, Uranus (and Saturn too, as Uranus being a planet beyond Saturn has a co-ruler) are rulers of my Sun/Star Sign.
So it has not escaped my notice that in my who I am, I am both a technologically ‘backwards’ person as well as a technically ‘forwards’ person (Saturn/Uranus/Aquarius themes). Nor has it escaped my notice that the powers-that-be that are ‘Uranian’ are now in the earthing sign of Taurus until 2025 after their experience of being in Aries, and that until the planet Uranus is properly ‘earthed’, then earth itself might not experience the new normal until 2025, given that the new tech age Uranus in Aries forged, needs the stabilising influence of Taurus to complete.
Sagittarians and Arians Take Care – Loose/Wild or in Your Success and Brilliant?
I can almost tangibly feel the change of powers in their turns each month when the Star/Sun zodiac signs change between the 21st an 23rd. What about you? Do you notice or feel how something shifts around that time each month? And now Jupiter has only just a few days ago changed into Aries, so if you are Sag or Aries, or if you’re a strongly Jupiter-placed person in your astrology, how are you feeling? Did you notice the shift?
The ‘Turns’ of the Powers-that-be, Whether Gods or Corporations or…
Each month, the Star/Sun sign changes to the rulership of a different power-that-be, and so May’s is Venus. Thank goodness peace-loving-Venus is the ruling goddess this month given how yang and fired up Aries can be. Fortunately the ruler of Aries, Mars, is also in peaceable Pisces until 25 May.
Jupiter into Aries, the Spiritual Warrior and the Corporate Soldier
Jupiter in Aries is the spiritual warrior in action. It has no time for wafting about in hope and prayer like it did the last 12 months in Pisces. It now needs to use its inspirations, hopes and wishes, and intuition that came in retreat and etc the last 12 months in Pisces, to become a spiritual warrior. How do you activate that side to yourself? In global meditations at home, in global meditations in groups? In taking up a spiritual warrior type martial art?
Until 17 May 2023, there’s 12 months of Jupiter’s enlargement of the theme of the soldier, the warrior, the protector, the passionate assertion of one’s beliefs, and also fighting for one’s identity, right’s for one’s kindred spirits and community, human rights, animal rights… whatever your cause is.
Mercury is also Retro! What a Month!
Mercury went Retro in Gemini on 10 May and is currently in the process of retrograding toward the North Node in Taurus. On 23 May, Mercury will slide backwards into Taurus. By the end of May, 28th to 31st, Mercury R will be its closest to the North Node.
How can this be interpreted? Basically the planet of messages, networking, reviewing, analysing, retrospectively assessing, and trying to catch falling balls… this archetype is contacting the powers of fate and destiny in the zodiac sign relating to food, money, survival, security, possessions, body, housing, rich-or-poor, comfort and wellbeing. What do you need to attend to with those themes?
On 3 June, Mercury goes Direct again.
Keep Your Eye on the Nodes Now and Coming Months
The Nodes are currently aligning to Neptune and Mars in Pisces by Trine and Sextile, fostering peace attitudes this May, and helping water down intensity, yet Mars does shift into Aries on 25 May, which is very soon.
Right now with the Nodes aligning to Neptune and Mars, it’s as if a foundational blanket is laid, as if the Nodes are saying ‘hey Neptune will you help Mars tone down a bit given that in late July early August, ‘shocks and surprises Uranus’ will be hitting Mars.
Preparing for End July and August
Worryingly at the very end of July and first week of August, The Nodes will conjunct and oppose Uranus (instability), and simultaneously Mars will be in that mix.. conjunct North Node and Uranus. Mars is known to inflame and ‘blow up’ what it’s near if it’s a volatile combo, and Mars to Uranus is like a bomb trigger being pulled. In Taurus, the zodiac sign of safety and security, it feels as if safety and security are disturbed in some way.
Yet hopefully the peaceable qualities of Taurus will go some way to help. Sometimes I feel we humans are where the zodiac energies are… we are given Sun/Star signs, and maybe the gods and powers-that-be are given planet names or other type of system archetype names.. for example angels and probably given role names similar to the powers-that-be that get planet names..!
Anyway, enough food for thought, and may your May be ‘May the Force Be With You’ and ‘May May Day Be With You’ and ‘May You Walk Safely Amid the Fear and Dread and Find What Peace there May Be in These Torrid Times’ and ‘May Your Vote Count in the May Election’!
