2020 Big Start & Year Overview

2020’s Big Start & Year Overview

We’re through the first month of 2020, the start of a new decade, and a step further into the dawning of the ‘new age’. Over January it was as if the whole next 10 years arrived in its seed or code form. It’s the ‘2’ balancing decade of the 21st century, after the ‘1’ years from 2010 to 2019.

Uranus, planet of technology, was in the ‘1’ zodiac sign of Aries for much of that time, forging the device-human relationship. Who can now live without their smart phones, ipads and laptops. The satellite-digital era is here to stay. Satellites in space are now as small as toasters and bees in their tens of thousands, and flying cars are on the way.

What is 2020 to you? Certainly it’s a year to envision the 10-year plan, yet key Capricorn words such as ‘time’, ‘safety’, ‘responsibility’ and ‘duty to the past’ feature first. Saturn and Pluto are in Capricorn as custodians of all that’s ever been, checking far back through historical eons for deepest balance. It’s as if they’re distributing fair share of being powerful and powerless, back through family lines, cultural lines, country lines, soul lines and creator lines, right through the deep of every vein of shadow and of light.

Anything that did not fare so well over the past decade of the raw force of Uranus in Aries helping establish technology and frequency innovations for the next 84 years, gets a chance to use this year’s Saturn and Pluto focus to positively work on what’s still messy from the necessary breaking of the eggshell to let more of the new era birth.

By the number three year of 2023, the influx of the 1 and the integration and adjustment of the 2, become a double-entwined pairing, and add another 1 to create the ‘3’ in 2023. From this perspective the whole of the decade 2010 to 2019 was the influx of the 1, and the whole of the decade 2020 to 2029 is the reconciling and adjustment of the 2.

Uranus started its stabilising time in Taurus, the ‘2’ zodiac sign, last year. When in Taurus, Uranus meets all that’s practical and material that’s been around for longer than when Uranus was discovered. The rest of Uranus in Taurus (until 2025/6) continues to build, repair and inspire new forms for a new era.

Chiron, the healing and bridging planet between the old style earth (bounded by Saturn) and the new style earth (represented by Uranus), arrived here in 1977 and is currently in Aries supporting integration of arrival of the new 84-year Uranus cycle.

Pluto, Saturn & Jupiter in Capricorn help us work hard to hold onto valuable inheritance from the ages, mourn the loss of what’s no longer with us, and provoke collaboration on great possibilities of global hearts and minds focused on planetary evolution.

Reality is changing. What is reality now? How we perceive reality is changing. More of the human brain is now being utilised than the previous 10 percent. Reality unseen becomes seen, or unheard becomes heard, perhaps differently for each of us, allowing the duality of yin-yang to become a triplicity, or even multiplicity, and challenging respect for diversity, strange and normal.

Even so, reality has structures and traditions and long-history and heritage which this year proves it’s staying, but which also must adapt to change. It’s an important year for each of us to gaze backwards and reconnect with our personal heritage and influences upon heart, soul, body, mind, spirit throughout the whole of our personal lives. The ancestors, parents, grandparents, mentors and teachers, dead or alive, are still among us, helping us not to lose enduring connection with what would be a sorrowful loss if it were to depart.

That keeps this year still as a churning of each moment on both inner and outer planes, to keep your wits about you, find time to greet and reckon with the past, treasure it in your thoughts, belongings and attic boxes, while also incorporating its wisdom to move forward.

We could blame this year’s trauma times on our gods or scientists, churches or yogis, ancestors or parents, siblings or friends or enemies; on robots, AI, social media or reality TV; on the satellite age or the turning of the ages; on ourselves, our souls, our body-minds; on fate, the planets, spirit or destiny; on schools, belief systems, politicians or corporations; or on the bird that shouted wake up you humans as it dodged another drone; or the butterfly effect with its quantum flutter.

There’s a lot of blame rising from the rubble. Sometimes if we don’t blame, an exchange can’t happen to create some energy to help set us free, but other times blame slam-dunks and traps. Blame is part of the human condition and with Pluto, Saturn and Jupiter together this year working it all through, the condition of ‘blame’ itself has a chance to process differently.

  • Saturn was conjunct Pluto 13 Jan 2020 (in Capricorn). Previous to that, the last time Saturn and Pluto were conjunct in Capricorn was 500 years ago.
  • Jupiter conjuncts Pluto 5 Apr, 30 June & 13 Nov 2020 (in Capricorn)
  • Saturn & Jupiter will conjunct each other 22 Dec 2020 (in Aquarius)

So how’s that?! Both Jupiter and Saturn arrive in Aquarius by Christmas 2020 to start their new cycle (known as ‘the Great Conjunction’), beginning a 20-year-round. At their 20-year meeting point they’ll be kick-starting the next 20 years from Aquarian ingredients. Aquarius is the zodiac sign that steps down the raw energy of Uranus to ground it for humanity and all of life great and small.

Then Jupiter will be in Aquarius nearly all of 2021, which is a good and important year to set visions for Jupiter’s 12-year cycle before it returns to Aquarius again in 2033. Then we can really see how the New Age of Aquarius is coming along.
