September 2016 Monthly Forecast
A New 12-Month Template
September’s big news is that Jupiter moves into Libra (on the 9th) and a whole new 12-month template begins. Jupiter – planet of excitement, growth and opportunity – will now be in relationship zodiac sign, Libra. Time to spice up current relationships, and explore some new ones.
The month begins with an energy surge at the New Moon eclipse on the 1st, and there’s another powerful energy surge mid-month with a second eclipse at the Full Moon on the 17th. This will be amplified by some Uranus transits. To top all this off, Mercury is Retrograde but goes Direct on the 22nd, the day before the equinox. Now there’s a chance for the benefits of the month’s pearls of wisdom to take effect.
Fiery First Week
A big theme this month is how to achieve personal desires in among the pressures of today’s world. It’s common to push desires into a small spot somewhere deep inside. Being Retro in Virgo, the zodiac sign of small things, Mercury is like a sniffer dog. He finds that hidden ball of unfulfilled desires and sets off its dynamite.
If on, or around, 3 September you feel a burst of adrenalin for something you’ve been longing to do but that keeps getting sabotaged, that will be Mercury making an exact conjunction to Jupiter. These two ride on the back of the New Moon eclipse in Virgo on the 1st, so over the first week of September your passion could inflame through a fiery experience. Don’t worry too much about what lights the fire. Instead grab hold of your desire and keep holding onto it!
Saturn square Neptune – Deep
You’ll need to hold on to your desire because the intensity of another alignment might throw you off your game – Saturn square Neptune (exact on the 10th). This is strong all month, and fortunately it can be turned into a helpful influence. Consider it this way… first Saturn plays devil’s advocate by prompting thoughts like ‘I’m too old for that now’; ‘there’s not enough time’; ‘there’s not enough money’… and so on.
When this happens, do what you can to create a space for the voice of your intuition to enter. Go for a walk, meditate, have a nap, have a cry. This is where Neptune helps. Being the god of the sea, emotions and dreams, he will float in a new version of your wish, desire, passion for you to taste-test.
Yet Neptune’s not very good with practicalities so we need to turn to Saturn for that. That’s right, Saturn is not actually Mr Bad Guy (well… at least not all the time!) If you want to achieve a single thing in your life, you need Saturn. This month Saturn helps you get practical so you can do a version of your passion that fits who you are now, not who you once were. You will be more in love with life, with yourself, with others, once you rearrange things to make way for this.
Mercury Retro – Power of Now
Mercury Retro in Virgo forces your mind to focus on what you are actually doing in each ‘now’ and helps carve bits of time for what you really want to do. Virgo is the zodiac sign of the present moment, of each ‘now’. What is your wish? Perhaps you want to walk on the beach sometimes. Perhaps you want to write a novel. Perhaps you want to join a local hobby group.
Mercury while in Virgo helps clear wrong expectations of what you can fit into each day. How can you free up time for the desires that keep cropping up? If you can’t find time for a walk on the beach every now and then, how will you fit in the bigger desires that take more time, like a new relationship, commuting to a new job, incorporating a new exercise routine etc.
This is the month to seriously assess your routine. What can go on the back burner so there’s time for the desires that usually miss out? Mercury is retrograde from 30 August to 22 September and really helps address these issues. Perhaps there are some automatic patterns you need to change?
High Creativity & High Impatience
The 1st Quarter Moon in Sagittarius on the 9th happens the same day that Jupiter (Sagittarius’s ruling planet) moves into Libra, and acts like a trumpet-call announcing Jupiter’s once-a-year zodiac sign change. The energy is creative and exuberant, yet you might be tempted to do the equivalent of drinking five strong black coffees in a row and end up with ‘caffeine shakes’. We bite off more of life in the one go than we can digest, either in our imaginations, desires or in reality. We are impatient for life’s rewards right away.
The theme of impatience crops up a few times this month. Any lingering blocks or obstacles from the first half of the year really start to grate. The Full Moon Eclipse in Pisces mid-month on the 17th challenges us to take note of ways we are waiting for something to change rather than doing what it takes to make our lives happen.
Make Patience Your Best Friend
Mars and Venus propel us into action when they make powerful alignments to Uranus on the 17th and 18th, coinciding with the eclipse. This is all about liberation, yet at the same time there’s an edginess and rebellion which if channelled the right way could bring a wonderful turning point, but if let run wild, might make matters worse.
Loss of patience might be at an all time high, yet a bigger dose of patience is needed now more than ever before, without sacrificing personal needs. In eggshell situations, Mercury Retro in Virgo helps slow things down so that we can find the right way to get a message across.
After the 22nd, the month takes on a different vibe. Mercury goes Direct that day and we start to get more control over our daily schedules. We’re even on the way to actually living some deeper wishes that until now have been difficult to manifest.
Love and Marriage
The Libra Equinox on the 23rd helps bring equilibrium, and gives another trumpet call to the new 12 month template of Jupiter moving into Libra. Imagine life has just put a relationship menu before you. What kind of relationship experiences do you want? Given that relationships come in all shapes and sizes, there’s a lot to choose from. Jupiter is set to bring excitement to romance and relationships in the months to come.
Venus still looks spectacular in our night skies in the west each evening, yet Jupiter and Mercury disappear from sight as the month progresses. Venus helps us feel deeply into our genuine love needs, which are as unique to each of us as individual snowflakes. Suffice it to say, Venus amplifies the energising influence Jupiter is already having on relationships this September.
Check out beautiful Venus this month. Look west soon after sunset to see her in all her glory as evening star. She reminds us that decisions made from the heart win the day.
