So far 2006 has been a bumpy ride for many of us. Challenging planetary alignments have been loudly demanding change. This month the change process continues, yet on the whole it’s a more gentle experience. If you’re sick of change, the bad news is that all of 2006 has a change theme. It’s hard for it not to because Pluto (the planet of major transformation) is aligned with the galactic centre (the birth and death point of the galaxy). At new and full moons this year the intensity of this alignment is amped up because the moon is ‘out of bounds’ (rising and setting much further north or south than usual) and crossing directly over both the galactic centre and Pluto.
But there is some good news! The first two weeks of May offer a magnificent alignment known as a grand trine. This particular grand trine is in the water zodiac signs (Scorpio, Pisces and Cancer) and feels like being dipped into a warm soothing spa bath with the bubbles at just the right intensity and a glass of champagne in hand. Mind you (to continue the spa bath theme) while relaxing in the spa some unusual opportunities (which will lead to further change) present themselves. But what the heck - you’re in the spa, you can handle it! That’s how change is likely to feel this month - more manageable, especially if you allow lots of time for reflecting, dreaming, resting, imagining and being in or near water. The planets involved in the grand trine (Jupiter, Uranus and Mars) are all change bringers, yet instead of fighting with each other and causing chaos, they’re collaborating to bring unexpected opportunities. Be prepared for some surprises and lucky breaks.
The Scorpio full moon on 13 May could be a major turning point, not only in the month but in the year so far. This is a big time for releasing a lot of the angst, pain and annoyance of the year, especially from events in March. Just before this full moon Venus (in Aries) hits off the zodiac point that was triggered at the solar eclipse in March. Whatever got shaken up at that time in your life is now to be revisited and completed. This full moon shines the light of awareness on all that we might still be holding on to even if the experience and relevance has long passed. Venus’s involvement especially highlights the need to move on from relationships that are no longer working.
To help shift the past, take some time at the middle of the month to clear out debris - e.g. faded clothes, cracked crockery, yellowing paperwork, past-the-use-by-date jams and sauces - anything that no longer holds a feeling of life, joy or relevance in the present. This includes relationships, jobs or homes that no longer take you forward. The challenge, however, will be to not create false endings and jump into a land of fluffy hopes without foundation. It’s important to discern what’s real about the new opportunities that the grand trine brings and what’s false. And to discern what really needs to be released from what you might wrongly force out of your life. Yep, this full moon sure packs a punch. Thank goodness for the gifts of the grand trine.
