June 2016 Forecasts
Jupiter & Destiny Node – The Wheel of Fortune Turns
Back in January, the wheel-of-fortune ‘destiny pair’ Jupiter and the North Node made two of their exact alignments. In June, they join for the third and final time. Jupiter is all about increase/expansion, and the North Node represents the soul magnetically pulling us toward our future destiny. Their next conjunction won’t be until June 2023, another 7 years away!
When these two are together a lot of growth can happen quickly often brought on by travel, extra study, spiritual quests, sexual quests, relocating, babies arriving, house moves, health treatments, nature treks or any kind of adventure through the inner or outer self that feels like it compels rapid growth.
Here’s the exact Jupiter-North-Node conjunction dates:
23 January 2016
29 January 2016
21 June 2016
Destiny Decisions and Indecisive Gemini New Moon
The time orb around the exact dates means that Jupiter and the North Node (‘destiny node’) were strong in both January and February, so think back to what was going on for you then. They’ll be strong again in June and July, then that’s it! Their time together wanes and new destiny directions will be underway for each of us.
Jupiter and North Node are both in Virgo helping us discern right down to the deepest detail what we need for our lives before locking in final decisions. We might feel put through a few wash cycles while we test options, and in fact from January until now it’s been like that for many of us. By 21 June, the date of the exact Jupiter-North-Node alignment, clarity emerges and decisions start locking in. If not, there’s still July to work things out.
June starts with a New Moon in Gemini on the 5th which raises the theme of decision-making again, as Gemini is a zodiac sign associated with assessing pros and cons, both sides to a coin, and trying to choose between options. June is a big month of feeling pulled this way and that with decision-making until core decisions click.
The Retrograde Soul-Search Continues
Prior to June, there’s been a lot of soul-searching with many retrograde planets bringing on waiting, retrospection and revisiting the past. Jupiter and Mercury went Direct in May, helping move things forward, yet Mars, Saturn, Pluto and now Neptune (from 14 June) and Chiron (from 27 June) are still retrograde. When Mars goes Direct at the very end of the month (30 June), finally there will be a start to moving forward more easily with plans.
So June has the feeling of some movement forward, but also continued soul-searching to ensure we choose the right path before speeding along it at 100 km in the second half of the year.
Biggest Astrology News of the Month – Mutable Grand Cross
A massive alignment happens in June, which is bigger than the Jupiter-North-Node destiny pair alone, yet involves them. It’s a Mutable Grand Cross, and named this because there are planets occupying each of the four ‘mutable zodiac signs’: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces. The planets in these four zodiac signs click into alignment and create four squares in June, as well as a cross shape. This brings up the image of a crossroads and adds to the theme of major life turning point decisions this month.
The Mutable Grand Cross planets are:
- Sun, Venus and Mercury in Gemini
- Jupiter and North Node in Virgo
- Saturn in Sagittarius
- Neptune, Chiron and South Node in Pisces
Saturn Controls both Jupiter& Neptune
Saturn has been making its own individual squares with Jupiter and Neptune at different times over the past year, but this month it holds them both in the palms of its hands simultaneously in what’s called a T-Square. You might like to think back on some of the following dates to help put into context the energies of this month:
Saturn square Jupiter:
3 August 2015
23 March 2016
25 May 2016
When Saturn squares Jupiter, there’s a sense that we want to fly with our life path adventures but Saturn will only allow this to happen if they are the absolute right click for us down to the last detail. The energy of the late May final square carries across strongly all through June. We’ve had since August 2015 to explore directions but now in June, Saturn says ‘Time’s up… I’m going to start closing doors on any wrong direction you’re taking, but I will open doors on your right directions’. A word of caution – don’t decide something’s a wrong direction just because the going gets tough. There’s always hard yakka involved with Saturn whether the direction is right or wrong. The difference is how the choice of direction feels deep down inside.
Saturn square Neptune:
26 November 2015
18 June 2016
10 September 2016
As you can see from those dates, the second Saturn-Neptune alignment of the three happens this month on 18 June. Here our misperceptions, hopes, wishes and blindspots get a reality check. Sometimes we inadvertently live life in a bubble of idealism. Saturn says ‘Hope has its place but if your idealism is going to undermine your safety and practical material reality, I’m going to start kicking out your wrong pipe dreams and instead get the power of your imagination aligned with your correct real-world future.’
We are not to be crushed by anything we reality-check and go ‘oh shit!’ to, but instead we are meant to rise to the challenge and learn all the new things we can about what will work in reality and what won’t. We must check we are not limiting ourselves by believing something will fail, because it might not. Yet we must also check we are not overstretching ourselves by believing something will be a sure-thing because it might not.
Sitting at the Crossroads in Your Grand Cross Tent
A Grand Cross experience is a little like trying to pitch a tent. We need to get those four corners pegged down or the tent won’t stand up and we won’t be able to enjoy our retreat. Life tests us at each corner to help us make our best choice. We’ll have issues come up to do with 1) (Gemini) friends, partners, social networks/social media, our social needs; 2) (Virgo) work, health, daily routine, self-care, eating patterns, our material wellbeing; 3) (Sagittarius) expansion, travel, study, big life plans, our wild freedom nature; 4) (Pisces) rest, fantasies, daydreams, spirituality and inner life, our private heart and soul needs.
Think of this as having four selves and therefore four truths within to be honest about this month. Once we understand our deepest needs on those levels, we can finally peg down our tent and get comfortable inside. Life will then get to work materialising the best integrated personalised ‘recipe’ for our individual directions including right relationships, work, rest and play.
Grand Cross Key Dates – Watch the Moon
All month within the Grand Cross, each day the energies are triggered one way or other, so every day in June is actually a key date. Yet potentially the most potent dates are those when the Moon crosses each of the four mutable zodiac signs, including the New, Full and Quarter Moons. These are:
- 4 to 6 June (Moon in Gemini part of Cross – includes New Moon on the 5th)
- 11 to 13 June (Moon in Virgo part of Cross – includes Waxing Quarter Moon on the 12th)
- 18 to 20 June (Moon in Sagittarius part of Cross – includes Full Moon on the 20th)
- 25 to 27 June (Moon in Pisces part of Cross – around the Waning Quarter Moon on the 28th)
Needless to say, this could be a head-spinning month. No sooner will we decide ‘yes, that’s what I want’ than something else pops in to test that decision. We might feel as if life is waving temptations or even limitations in front of us to see if we’ll chase after castles in the sky or be crushed by something that seems a big deal but really is not. The challenge is to pause, take time with each option, taste-test, then say yes or no after some consideration. If we stand our ground and stay committed to our personal truth, often found in our wrangling emotions, we can’t go wrong. In fact, we will ‘go right’ and the grand cross will form a foundation to deep and lasting contentment.
Mars and Black Moon Lilith in Scorpio – Lust for Life
Mars has retrograded back into Scorpio helping us go so deep we encounter powerful feelings that help us see the most aching truth within, and what joy it brings to finally let ourselves see the truth! The joy might come after clearing blocks and anger, but it’s worth it. If your truth is that you deep down crave being a tattoo artist, for example, but you’ve been suppressing this for years, what joy to finally admit it! Next, taking the brave steps in the real world to becoming a tattooist are needed and Saturn will be your ally with this.
Black Moon Lilith has also gone into Scorpio, and this goddess archetype is not to be messed with. She stands for authenticity in ways that no force can counter. If you’re not being fully honest with yourself about your true needs, she’s likely to bring on some waves of intensity that will rock your boat until you get to the bottom of your authenticity.
Lilith stood up to both Adam and God in ancient mythology, left them to their power-games (this was the old ‘God of punishment’), then after biding her time, slipped back into the Garden of Eden to wake Eve up to her full potential. Black Moon Lilith loves being in Scorpio. It’s her power sign and she’ll be in Scorpio from 22 May 2016 to February 2017.
Lilith, the Woman who Stood Up to a Tyrant God
With Black Moon Lilith now in the same zodiac sign as Mars, it’s as if she’s saying ‘look very carefully at your energy… what raises your energy, what depletes it?’ Lilith doesn’t care for ‘false energy’ be it from the constant adrenalin surge of running from one thing to the next or holding on to wishful hopes or faulty perceptions. She cares for real energy from the pit of the belly, from the flame within, from the core of the heart and soul. If we think we can use our Mars energy to continue on a trajectory that’s not working for us, we’ve got another think coming with Lilith now in Mars’s sign.
Black Moon Lilith’s influence also reinforces the sense that June is a decision-making month. Lilith had to make the gut-wrenching choice between leaving the Garden of Eden or staying put when she realised its god wanted masculine needs to rule over the feminine. She chose to leave, yet it meant leaving her marriage to Adam and leaving paradise… not an easy choice, but one that unleased her inner power and incredible strength. I often think of the character ‘Cat Woman’ when thinking of Lilith, where a woman pushed to the edge turns into an unstoppable force. Men also have an ‘inner cat woman’ by the way!
Full Moon with Solstice and Jupiter-North-Node Finale
June’s Full Moon on the 20th is in Sagittarius. May’s Full Moon was also in Sagittarius, so we’re getting two fire full moons in a row! This emphasises contacting the urge within for adventure, experimentation and growth, and gives two chances to take courageous steps towards following deep down truth. The day after the full moon, there’s another very powerful energy surge toward this with both the solstice (21 June) and grand finale Jupiter-North-Node moment (21 June) happening. The solstice itself is always seen as a crossroads in the turning of the seasons each year… another crossroads image for June. If you feel particularly depressed or overexcited around these days, find time for play and spontaneity to connect with the deep desire within your soul.
This month is a crossroads where you can really leave the past behind. Purge it, clear it, get rid of anything that is no longer you. Be like Lilith and walk away from your past ghosts. Old stories are likely to come up to haunt you but you are you now, not you then. New doors are opening if you follow the truth within your Soul and your Self.
The North Node next to Jupiter shows the powerful hidden hand of your own soul and the souls of others all working hard behind the scenes to magnetise you toward where you most need to be. When you choose the most aligned path to your truth, the inner wrangle ceases and the fun begins.
